Robert Ullrich, Waveny maintenance engineer and licensed electrician, has been promoted to Director of Facility Operations for Waveny Care Network. In his new role, Ullrich will manage and oversee the mechanical systems, operations and new construction throughout the healthcare organization’s main campus – a 100,000 square foot operation, which includes Waveny Care Center, The Village at Waveny Care Center, an Adult Day Program as well as a complement of on-site services and programs.
Over the past five years, Ullrich has provided around-the-clock coverage during Hurricane Irene, Superstorm Sandy, and other inclement weather. He chairs Waveny’s Safety Committee and is active on both fire safety and disaster drill task forces.
“Given the talent and caliber of our maintenance staff, it was a simple decision to promote from within,” said Elyse Dent, campus administrator. “The degree of initiative Rob has demonstrated within his department over the past five years, coupled with his breadth of expertise specific to Waveny’s maintenance needs, made him a highly qualified candidate for the position. I know I echo our management team and staff in congratulating him on this well-deserved promotion.”
Ullrich, who joined the Waveny organization in 2009, was previously responsible for coordinating a number of critical projects for Waveny, including the replacement of carpeting throughout facility, the installation of a new kitchen F.O.G. system, and significant renovations to Waveny Care Center’s resident bathrooms, bedrooms, ceilings and dining areas. He also played a lead role in the advanced wiring and hardware installation that underpinned Waveny’s recent transition to a campus-wide wireless network.
“There are many exciting projects happening now and in the near future at Waveny, which I’m proud to oversee alongside our stellar team,” said Ullrich. “From the comprehensive renovations to the Care Center’s special care unit projected to start this summer, to the installation of a 750 kW Generator to power our whole campus during inclement weather like Superstorm Sandy, our primary job is to ensure all projects proceed smoothly with minimum inconvenience to those we serve.”
